TE RANGITUMAU SALE.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on tho Te Eangitumau sale, held on behalf of Mr James Stuckey and Messrs Stuckey Bros., on Thursday, as follows : —The sale undoubtedly was, without exception, tho most successful held in tho Wairarapa. Tho attendance was large, buyers from all parts of tho colony being present as well as Australia, tbe North Island being strongly represented, tho Feilding district particularly so. Very favourable comment was made on the arrangements for the conduct of tho sale, which worked without a.hitch, and tho quality of tho stock, especially the Southdowns, was particularly admired. Business at auction was keen, and at times animated, and Mr .James Stuckey’s flock of 1100 Southdowns made tho satisfactory average of £3 4s, and the sons’ Lincolns, just over 500 head, £3 4s 6d. Shearling Southdown owes made from 2gns to 7-ignsj 2 shear owes 2gns to 9gns ; 3 shear owes Ign to 4]gus, 4 shear owes llgns to Signs; 5-yeav-old ewes and over Ign to Signs ; ewes with lambs at foot,, all counted, various ages, Ign to 2i gns ; 3 shear ram, “ Thickest Ist,” pur--1 chased by Mr Ernest Short, of Feilding, at 331 gns ; 4 shear ram, “ Thickest 2nd,” purchased by Mr A. Hunter, Hawera, at 13gns;C-th ram (unnamed), purchased by Mr A. J. Stone-Wigg, Mastcrton, at 15 guineas. Other stud Sout hdown rams were purchased by Messrs W. and H. Boctham at 151gns, A. J. Stono-Wigg 25gns, James McGregor Klgns, M. Bailey Si gns and lOgns, Mr Leithhead, Takapan, also purchased four studs at Ggns, Sgns, lOgns and 33gas. Messrs W. and H. Beetham also purchased stud ram lambs at 35gns and 25gns, respectively j Mr E. Short, Feilding,one at XGgns, and Mr John Strang, Gladstone, one at 33i gns. Other stud ram lambs made from 2gns to Sgns. Ewe lambs made from Ign to 9}gns, Messrs Short and Knight, Feilding, purchasing heavily. Two shear Lincoln ewes made from ligns to Signs, 3 shear owes from 2jgns to ogns, 4 shear owes Ign to 4jgns, shearling owes Sgns to 7gns, ewe lambs Ign to 4|gns, ram lambs Ign to 41 gns. A 2-shear Lincoln stud ram, bred by tho Now Zealand and Australian Land Company, was purchased by Mr Dalzieß. Hunterville, at 27gns. Two shear Lincolns bred by the same Company wore bought by Mr Christopher, Eltbam, at 2Cgns, while Messrs Percy Bros., Mastcrton, after keen competition, secured the 3 shear stud Lincoln bred by Mr James Stuckey at 4Ggns. Fleck owes were keenly competed tor. East Coast and West Coast buyers strongly opposing one another. Two-tooth Lincoln ewes made 2Gs 6d, 4-tooth owes 25s 9,1. G-toolh owes 27s Bd, 4-year-old owes 21s 8.1, 3-year and over owes 16s, ewe lambs 1357d.t0 14s 3d, wether lambs 10s Gd, 2-tooth Wethers 14a 7d.
