Press Associafcioil—Oopynfeiii. : , L'otoßn, March 1. :■ Mr Robertson, Financial Secretary of the Admiralty, in reply to Mr Heuuikor-Heaton regarding the fresh meat used by, the navy, said that there wore uo Admiralty records showing- the proportion pixrohased from tiie colonies. Mr Haldane gave a similar reply regarding fresh meat used, by the army and said there wore uo statist tics regarding the sources of fresh meat used. In reply to Rowland Hunt Mr Haldane stated with regard to preserved meat that the colonics were invited to tender to meet every demand but owing to the drought aiicl shortness of stocks Colonial firms were not always able to quote for delivery and were beaten in many cases by the price. Mr Balfoui, in the debate on the Army Estimates'," deprecated the extinction instead 1 of the reform of the militia and too. much reliance being placed on volunteer artillery without a stiffening from regulars. Disestablishment. MrR. V/. Porks, speaking at Louth, declared that Nou-couformists would not allow disestablishment to ho shunted for a-Catholic University in Ireland.
