THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
Per Press Association —Copyright. London, February 28. Owing to Mr Winston Churchill’s remark during the recent fiscal de : bate;. that tlie . Government wore not entering tlie conference with an open mind any more than the colonial Premiers, several attempts have been made to elicit from the Government a further statement. Sir E. A. Sassoon yesterday inquired regarding the Capo’s declaration of the continuance of preference, whether Sir H. Campbell - Bannerman would give consideration to the Capo’s views at the conference. Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman replied that, of course, the opinions of any colony on any question would receive attention. Lord Elgin would doubtless be fully acquainted with the opinions and feeling of tho Government on the subject. London, February 28.
As the Colonial Conference approaches newspapers of all shades are actively discussing the programme from various standpoints.
