COLLISION WITH A COMET.

No Gauss far Alarm. Harmless as Mist on a Mountain. Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, February 25. Tho Government astronomer ridicules Mattonoor’s predictions. He says it is no now thing for comets to swoop the earth quite inoffensively. Nothing is known here of Marchette’s comet, hut supposing such a comet exists and came in contact with the earth it would not have as much effect as mist on a mountain. Several other astronomers confirm this view.
