NEW STRIKE AT PAREORA.
Per Press Association. Timaeu, February 22. Another strike occurred at tbo Pare or» freezing works this morning, the 45 butchers there employed declining to start killing unless promised pajment at the rate of 25s per 100. Some of the. slaughtermen when interviewed said that the butchers at all the, freezing works in Canterbury were in sympathy with them in their {demand for this increase of 5a per 100. Messrs Borthwick and Sons; who put large numbers of sheep through the Pareora works, to-day offered to pay the slaughterman the rate they now demand to: kill about 2000 sheep for them to-morrow. The offer will probably be accepted. It is understood that a conference between representatives of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Co. and the slaughtermen is being held in Christchurch io-day, and the men on strike here are awaiting the result.
