Tugs and lifeboats vainly tried to approach, but tho heavy seas running prevented them. There ware a lew persons still clinging to the wrack at noon, but the chances of rescue ace hopeless. Tha Berlin had 120 passengers, including Arthur Herbert, King’s Messenger, and 16 members of the German Opera Company from Coveut Garden Theatre. The craw nnmI bered 60. Only two persons were j saved. 25 bodies have been recovered.
