MANGAWEKA.
(From Our Own Correspondent),
On Wednesday the showery state of the weather caused "great disappointment amongst the children, teachers and parents, who were looking forward to a good day’s outing at the combined Sunday school* picnic. The committee had been working hard to make this annual function a success, but the weather sadly militated against them. However, a number of races for valuable trophies were run between the showers, and a good tea, under the supervision of the ladies, who are deserving of much credit, finished an enjoyable day under adverse circumstances.
Percy Trewby, draper, wag again before the- local Court on a charge of failing to send his boy to school. The sitting justices, Messrs. Bennett and Guthrie, fiued the defendant 20s and costs 7s.
