THE NORTHERN TERRITORY.

The agreement respecting the Northern Territory has been tabled. The Commonwealth undertakes to maintain and work the railways when acquired and constructed, including the construction of part of the transcontinental line ; also to take over the indebtedness of the territory. The agreement is not binding until approved by the Commonwealth and South Australian Parliaments.
