Wool.
Messrs J. Nathan and Co., report during the past three weeks prices for all grades of wool have Lc-cn well maintained both in the English and foreign centres of tho industry. Consumption continues on a large scale, and with manufacturers’ stocks at their present low ebb, the prospects for the auctions which open on the 15th instant appear distinctly favourable. Since tho close of tho last series, there lias been a certain amount of enquiry in the London market for merinos as well as crossbreds, and a good sized parcel of greasy coarse crossbred wool of the New Zealand new clip is reported to have changed hands at prices appreciably in excess of those current during the public sales.
The following are the gross arrivals to •date for the first series of tho year ; Australian, 108,865 ; Lew Zealand, 8,2u6 ; South African, 40,301; total, 157,422 bales. Of which about 82,500 bales (47,750 Australian, 250 New Zealand, and 34,500 South African) have been forwarded direct to the Continent, Y orksbire, etc.
