KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of above Council was bald yesterday. Present i Messrs R. Were (chairman), Bryant, Moody; liftnghiin; Voss, Wiltshire, feastin (engineer). The following correspondence was read and dealt with ; From Valuation Department, forwarding information re revision of valuation rolls and Assessment Court. Prom Department of Roads, forwarding statement of balance on Gorge Road and Pahiatua Road, and asking to be advised when the work is put in hand, the number of men employed, and the time when work is completed. From Department of Roads, stating that payment'of £IOO authorised for Gorge Road would be made on application to District Road Rnginoet.
From Wm. Akers, asking that Board attend to Boundary Road between Horowhotma and Kakanga Counties and leading to his property at Linton, and stating that Horowhenua Council was prepared to do its share provided this Conned was prepared to act. Prom R. Mackay, asking _ what action Council intended taking ra removal of shingle from riverosd Mr Akers’ properly at Linton, and stating that Council would be bold responsible for any damage done or to fee done, also making suggestions re closing of the road. From B. Blake, resigning position as roadman, and asking for certificate of competency, etc. From McMurray end Co., quoting prices for supply of cement. From D. Prouse, asking permission to place metal on side of Waldegrave Road. < Prom J. P. Innos, stating that although Mr Craw bad written and asked the engineer to inspect and pass work done by him, nothing had bo far been done. The engineer reported that arrangements had been made to proceed with repairs to Scott’s Road, Fitzberbert riding, and for repairing other roads daring winter. Complaints had been received respecting drainage at Cheese Factory at Bunnythorpe, and also in regard to the bad smell arising from the boiling down works at the abattoirs. It was decided to call tenders for work in Fitzhorbort riding, and have repairs carried out at Awahuri bridge, as suggested by inspector. The following resolutions were passed i—That Oroua Coun.y Council be asked to take steps to abate alleged nuisance at Bunnythorpe Cheese Factory. That notice bo given to occupiers of properties with trees overhanging roads that branches must be cut back to fence line. Attention was called to encroacnments of Kahuterawa stream and likelihood of damage to bridge. The engineer was asked to inspect it at once. , It was resolved that tenders uc Called for leasing Awapuni reserve, less an acre to bo reserved for Council’s own purposes. That attention of Borough Council be drawn to the nuisance caused by th 6 boiling-down works at Awapuni, and creating a public nuisance, and asking same to be abated. That Inspector of Nuisances bs instructed to give the Abbatoir Company seven days’ notice to abate the nuisance, and that the Agricultural Department be informed of° the complaint made by the deputation. That steps be taken to raise a loan of £3OO for erection o£ bridge at Tiritea. —Carried. That a committee consisting of whole Council be appointed to go into the matter of proposed Hokowhifcu bridge, and obtain all particulars in connection with the matter and report to nest meeting, and that notice be given to each that this matter will be finally dealt with at next regular meeting. That a special meeting for above purpose will bo held on 2Gth inst. Accounts amounting to £Ol-1 16s 3d ware passed for payment.
