A letter has been received from the ' Hon Fowlds. refusing to comply with tho Charitable Aid Board’s appeal for. a grant of £2OOO towards tho cost of erecting a new home for tho aged. At a meeting of the Hospital Board, Mr J. N. Williams’ cheque for ,£IOOO towards tho cost of a ward for chronic cases was received, and the donot was elected a life member. A donation of £IOO to the same object was received from Mr B. W. Knowles. Invercargill, February 12. It is reported from Wairo that a farmer, named John Divanney, was knocked down-and robbed of nearly £25 after drinking in an hotel. A warrant has been issue for the arrest of Patrick Finn, who is accused by Divanney. A house owned by Robert Sands, at South Winston, was completely burned early this morning.
