Keir Hardie, speaking at Llnydcocd, said the labour Party propose to authorise Loudon and other large municipalities to undertake tho business of buying and selling coal which will reduce the price by ouo half, raise colliers’ wages 50 per cent and leivo a handsome profit towards old age pensions. He believed general elections were inevitable in 190 S. Since lie had had personal experience of the income tax he admitted that the middle class were entitled to relief and advocated a graduated tax, placing additional burdens on tho rich.
