FIRE IN A CARGO.

Press Association. Auckland, February 5. The auxiliary schooner Greyhound from the north, when coming up the harbour this afternoon, took tire amongst the flax portion of the cargo. The vessel was berthed at the wharf quickly, and leads of hose from the wharf were run on board. The fire float was also r quisitioncd. After about an hou s hard pumping water into the he J the lire was still progressing, and it was then decided to take her ashore where she was scuttled and the Are put out. The vessel was then pumped out and refloated. It is not expected the vessel is injured, but the cargo must be badly damaged by lire and water. There are no insurances on the vessel, but whether the cargo is or not is unascertainable at present.
