ACCIDENT IN WONDERLAND.

Too Realistic a Performance. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, January 21. One feature of the Wonderland entertainmeut at the Exhibition recently introduced is “ Fighting the Flames," the aensatioa being an aerial flight, a fireman sliding down a wire rope from the sixth storey of a burning building and rescuing a young woman, whom he carries suspended by her waist belt. The feat was successfully performed till Saturday night, on which occasion the rope broke when the performers were at a height of from seven to ten feet from the ground. Both = were rendered unconscious from shock! The man is all right now, but the woman was taken to a private boarding-house and attended to, but her injuries are not believed to be serious. The girl's identity is closely guarded. She performed in a mash, as did the fireman, but she is believed to be from Wellington. She declines to disclose her real name lost she frightens her family.
