Messrs Kaye A Carter, Christchurch report under date January 16tli: — Wheat : Milling Tusean 3s 4d to Sb sd, Pearl 3s 4d to 3s sd, Hunters’ 3s 3d to, 3s 4d, fowl 3s 2d to 3s 3d, f.0.b.a.e., Lyttelton. Milling wheat firmer and in fair demand. Fowl wheat scarce, and wanted. Oats: A Garton 2s od to 2s 6d, B 2b 4d to 2s od, Sparrowbills 2s Id to 2s sd, Danish 2s 3d to 2s 4d, Duns 2» 4d to 2s 6d, f.0.b.5.i., Lyttelton. Stocks of old exhausted. Demand very keen. New crop will be light all round. Potatoes : New ones just beginning to come forward and are barely set ■enough for shipment yet, £8 to £9, f.o.b.s.i. Stock Report. Loan & Mercantile report:—At our Eimboltoa yards on Tuesday there was a, fair entry of both sheep and cattle, which met with good competition, the recent wet weather having had its effect <on the market. Quotations —-2 and 4 tooth wethers 16s Id to 15s 3d, 2 tooth wethers 14* fid, miacd lambs 8s 9d, cull lambs 7s, 2 tooth ewos (small) 14s, ■empty cows £2 15s, mixed yearlings ;30s. At Feilding on Friday we had a ■small entry of sheep and fair yarding •of cattle. Sheep were in good demand, all classes being keenly competed for at a decided advance on last week’s ■rates. Cattl# were dull of sale, but we juanaged to quit the whole of our entry ■At fair ralnes. Fat ewes 13s 2d, 2 tooth 4V« (small) 14s Id, forward wethers 35* 3d, Cattle.—Yearlings 20s to 255, ■3.5 month heifers 2fs fid, 2 and 21 years 452 2s fid to £2 6s, forward cows £2 5s -to £2 10*, dairy £4 ss, stores 28s fid, ■rows with calves at foot £2 ss.
