WAITUNA WEST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The weather here of late has been very hot. The thermometer at 90 in the shade, as it was on Friday last, is rather too warm. This season has been the hottest ever experienced in this district to my knowledge, although not the driest. The rain, which has been falling steadily and almost continually since Saturday, will do a great deal of good. Much anxiety was felt for Mrs E. Shannon on Saturday last, but late reports ihow a slight improvement which every one in this district will be glad to hear and we still hope to hear of her rapid recovery. [Mrs Shannon’s death has since taken place.j On Saturday evening the Waituna Sports Club held its annual meeting and showed a credit balance of £l6, in spite of the bad day we had for our sports last year. It was decided to hold sports this year on March 6th, a good programme being drawn up and a strong committee elected to carry out the arrangements. If fortunate enough to be favoured with a fine day the sports should prove tho best held hero.
