Mr Devoroll, who carries mails to Tauranga, had a terrible' experience on returning from Tauranga yesterday. When half-way across the horse was carried away and the'maiis washed out to sea. Deveroll clung to a barbed wire fence and crept along it, reaching dry land in an exhausted condition with lacerated hands.
