TAIHAPE.
Inquest at Makeraiti. An inquest was Held at SowOrbv’s. Mill, Makeraiti, about four miles north of Taihaps, before the coroner, Mr J. P. Aldridge, on the body of E. B. McPetridge, who was killed on Monday last, owing to the capsizing of a trolly carrying a log. Evidence was given by Mr Sowerby that deceased stated when employed (hat he had been accustomed to working as trollyman, and William Goodson, said he had gone down with deceased on his first trip and part of the distance on the journey that ended fatally. Ha considered him capable of managing the trolly. The jury returned the following verdict—“ That deceased met his death through an error of judgment in allowing the truck to take the curve at too great a speed, the accident being caused by the deceased’s own inexperience in working trucks in steep country, no blame being attachable to anyone." Deceased was a stranger in the district, but is said to have come from Belfast with a brother about 8 years ago.
