Press Association —Copyright. Melbourne, January 15. La Carabine Cup final race resulted: — Heather 1, Eawhiti 2, C.J.S. 3. Sydnet, January 15. Yesterday’s race places Eawhiti,'Heather, and C.J.S. on an equality,' e having secured four points. Sayou.n. did not start to-day, the owners realising that sho was flying too light.. They intend putting 25cwt of lead into and remeasuring her before competing in the Sayouara Cup event. Details of to-day’s race are missing. Melbourne, January 16. The La Carabine Cup was won by Heather with seven points, Eawhiti scoring six, S.J.S. five. Only four started in tho final event—a course of ton mile to windward and back. There was a fine breeze at the start, which afterwards' fell off and was insufficient during the return to keep the balloon sails filled. S.J.S. was first over the lino, followed by Eawhiti and Heather. Eawhiti rounded the turn 7min 12secs ahead of Heather while S.J.S. was 12raiu 54seos in the rear of Heather. Eawhiti, despite the bothering wind, outsailed the others on the return voyage and passed the finishing lino in shrs. 44mm. 44see. Heather took Ohrs 17soc, S.J.S. 6hrs lOsec. Deducting rating allowances Heather beat Eawhiti by 485aocs and Eawhiti beat S.J.S. by omin 9sec. Later. The measurement of S.J.S. was one approximate and re-measurement may alter the result of the Cup.
