Per Press Association. Gisborne, January 15. Graham Higgins, aged about nine, son of Braid wood Higgins, was drowned in the Waimata river at six this evening while bathing. His brother was save d when sinking for the last time and had evidently been making efforts at rescue. About twelve months ago two girls, cousins of tbo drowned boy, lost tboi r lives in tlie same river whilst bathing. Auckland, January 16. Tho police have received word that Addrow Peters, Postmaster at Karawa, has shot himself. Gisborne, January 16. At the inquest on Graham Higgins, aged nine, tho verdict was that he was accidentally drowned. The evidence showed that tho boy was drowned while trying to save his brother.
