Press Associotion.—Copyright. Rome, January 12. A Papal Encyclical lias been issued, ji) which His Holiness the Pope expresses his desire to comfort the French Church in her sufferings, lie assures her that her trials will lead to a final victory, for which union with the Holy See is indispensable.
The Encyclical - affirms that the German public worship associations are merely tolerated, not approved, although, unlike the French associations, they recognised the hierarchy. Moreover, it affirms the determination of the Papacy to defend the inviolability of Church property and its liberty, • The Encyclical denounces the French association law as confisca; tion of property and unauthorised interference with public worship.
