TOUR OF THE AMEER.

Conciliating Hindoos. Press Association.—Copyright. Calcutta, January 12, ' Upon learning that the Mohammedans at Agra intended to sacrifice a hundred cows to celebrate his participation in a festival, the Ameer urgently requested that none of these animals should bo slaughtered, but that goats shoul dbe substituted. His request was made ,in order to avoid all offence to the religious feeling of Hindus, who regard the cow as a sacred animal.

The Hindus, who, at the outset of the Ameer’s visit to India were among the first to strew his path with flowers, warmly appreciated the consideration thus shown for their feelings, and which is likely to pro-: duce a remarkable effect upon their co-religionists throughout Ipdia.
