HOME RULE CONTROVERSY.
Mr O’Brien’s Allegations. Tress Association—Copyright. London, January 11. Mr O'Brien, interviewed, stated that Mr Devlin had deferred defaming him until his Australian collections were complete. Sheehan and John O’Donnell had been expelled without any form of trial and without consulting the party. The effect of the opinion is that South-east, West Cork, Last Kerry, and South Mayo have openly sided with Mid-Cork. The party was only kept alive by American and Australian subscriptions contributed on a total misapprehension of the situation. The League was dying on its logs. , The administration of its funds would now bo investigated by means of Sheehan and O’Donnell’s action. Donovan’s statement did not deserve notice in Ireland, where ho was quite unknown outside two wards in Belfast.
John O’Donnell is seeking an injunction and damages against John Redmond and other officials of the Irish Parliamentary Party restraining them from excluding him from membership of the party. Mr Sheehan is proceeding against the same defendants for libel and conspiracy.
