Messrs Todd & Douglass, Dunedin, report under date January 7th: — Oats: Bright Gartons (shipments from Northern ports) 2s 21d to 2s 3d, Southland B grade Gartons 2s 21d, F.A.Q. 2s 2d to 2s 2Ad, B grade Sparrowbills 2s 2d, F.A.Q. 2s Ond to 2s Id, Duns 2s 3d to 2s 4d. The market is very firm, caused by the scarcity of offerings, and the increased demand from the North Island. There has been a sharp advance during the past Milling wheat.—Tuscan 3s 5d to 3s to 3s Cd, velvet (scarce) 3s Id to 3s ojd, Hunter’s 3s 3d to 3s f.o.h. The market is fairly firm, notwithstanding the fact that millers are not operating very freely. Fowl wheat. —Good whole 3s 2d to 3s 3d. There is a very strong demand and stocks are difficult to secure.

Barley.—Feed quality 2s 9d to 3s, f.o.h.s.i. Market quiet. Ryccorn,—Seed quality 3s 2d to 3s 3J, f.0.h.5.i., Bran, 70s, net. Pollard, 80s. net.

Linseed.—Best grades £l2 to £T2 10s, lower £ll to £l2, crushed £l2, f.o.h.s.i. Fair demand. Very little prime quality offering. Best of what is left is only medium quality. Ityegrass. —281 b 4s 3d to 4s Gd, 261 b 4s 2d to 4s 4d, 251 b 3s lid to 4s Id,. 231 b 3s Sd to 3s lid, s.e. The new seed will be available in the undressed stage about the end of the month. There is a strong demand forold seed at present and most of the nice looking samples are being bought up and shipped. The bulk of the seed now on hand is 231 b to 2Clb, with just odd lines of heavy seed.

Italian. Well marked machine dressed seed 3s 7dlo 4s, medium 3s 5d to 3s 7d, farmers’ dressed 2s lOd to 3s 4d. In strong demand, and the market lias advanced.

Cocksfoot.—lßlb od to 5.Jd, 171 b 4|d to 4;, ! d, Kill) 4ld to 4|d, 151 b 4£d, 14lb 4d to 4?,d. Seed for surface sowing, 2d to 31d. This seed has been largely enquired for, and some considerable quantities have changed hands. Chewings Fescue.—l9o6 crop, 4|d to od, 1905 crop 4d, f.o.b. Very little 1906 crop available. Clovers: Imported white; Good quality 67s to 755, extra choice 80s, lower grades 50s, to 655. Colonial white: Prime quality (very scarce) 84s to 90s, medium 70s to 77s 6d. Cowgrass : Prime colonial 82s to 80s, medium 75s to 82s, imported Gss to 70s. Alsyke: 75s to 77s Od. Timothy, imported, 28s to 30s, colonial 35s to 455. Crested dogstail: Imported 100 s, colonial 112 s. Sucklings 20s to 30s. Surface sowing clovers 2d to 4d. In strong demand.
