THE MEIKLE COMMISSION.
Per Press Association. Wellington, January 7. When tlio Mcikle ■ Commission resumed to-day a discussion took place as to whether it would be necessary to call Mr McNab, Minister of Lands. Eventually counsel for Meikle admitted as correct a. letter setting out the terms upon which, the grant of £'■soo was made by Government to Meikle on Mr MeNab’s solicitation, Meikle undertaking that if the grant was made ho would not trouble Government again. Counsel, contended it was a private undertaking and in no way binding on Meikle. Counsel for the Crown submitted that on receiving the money Meikle signed a discharge in full of all claims against the colony. Counsel’s address is now proceeding.
