Mf-lboubne, Last Night. Building contracts in the city and suburbs, closed on account of tiro strike, re-opened to-day. The strikers’ committee bad every job picketed, But a constable was stationed beside each picketing group and intimated that no interference would bo permitted. Work was resumed on several contracts, in some cases contractors themselves using tools.
The strikers declare that no Unionist bus gone back to any job. The secretary ’of the Employers’ Com--1 mitteo reports that two hundred contractors had boon registered as upholders of the 48 hours week. Newcastle, Last Night. The mines referred to in yesterday’s cables aro still idle. Adelaide. January 4. The demands of the strikers on a number of minor jobs have been conceded, ntl they have resumed work.
