THE MAYORALTY.
In connection with the forheoining municipal and Mayoral election, there has been considerable speculation as to who will contest the Mayoral chair, and ratepayers and electors alike would be glad of hearing something definite in this direction. A few days ago a "Times" reporter put the question .to the retiring Mayor, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, whether he was seeking re-election or not. Mr. Lawrie replied that he had not vet made up his mind. The cx-Mavor, Mr. 11, G. R. Mason, was next interviewed and asked if be lisid tiny intention of contesting the chair, to which, lie replied in the negative-.
