MARKET REPORT.
Mr. J. Jones, auctioneer, on the cor-' ner, New City Markets, reports sales for week ending 20th January, as follows:—Poultry and pigs arc coming in in heavy supply and values are lower. Old ducks are considerably lower, and hard to quit. Poor hens are slow of sale, pigs show an easing tendency, and prices lower than ’ last’ report. Fruit is selling well. Potatoes and., onion market is steady, though supplies the last week has been excep-, tionally heavy. Butter and egos lower. We quote;— Poultry.—Hens, prime 4s 9d to os 9d, good 3s 9d tot 4s 6d, light "s'bd; ducks, good 4s 6d to 6s, old I.R. 2s to 2s 9cl; roosters,, prime 6s 3d to Ss, good 5s 3d to 6s, small 4s to 5s 6d: cockerels, Is 6d to 2s: chickens, 6d to Is; turkeys, gobblers, 12s to 13s, hens 7s to 8s; pigs, wcaners 12s to 16s, stores 14s to 31 2s. Produce.-—Potatoes 36 to 37, mixed samples 34: onions, 38 to .39 15s; swedes, 35; vegetables, current rates; hams, Is Cd, sides Is 4d; cheese, -s 3d; butter, Is 7d to Is 8d; eggs, 2s to 2s 2d. Fruit.—Apples, choice dessert 10s to 13s Ccl. ; good Ss to 9s 9d, cookers 6s to 9s 3d; plums, (Burbanks 3's to ss, Fnglish 4s Got o 8s 3d; peaches, 5s to 9s 6d; pears, 9s to 11s 6d; lemons, 10s 9d to 16s 6d; grapes, Is 9d to 2s 6c!; tomatoes, Cs 6d to 9s 6d case. Grain.—-Maize, 7s 3d to 8s 9ck, oats, Js 6d; barley, 9s; bran, .311; siiarps, 11s; chaff, southern 313.
