ROOSE'S BUSH.
OPTION OVER LAND EXTENDED. It will he remembered that a couple of months ago a poll was taken on a proposal to raise a loan of £2IOO for the purpose of acquiring 22 acres of Roose’s Bush for a scenic reserve. At that time much apathy was shown by the ratepayers, as out of about 800 only SI voted on the proposal as follows: 40 for, 43 againiit and one informal. At a subsequent meeting of the Council the Clerk was instructed to ask Mr. E. Roose, the owner of the property for an extended option over the property and if ire was agreeable to the Council purchasing the whole area of about 27 acres. In reply thereto Mr. Roose stated he would extend the option to May 31 on the old terms. He also stated he would accept £4OOO for the whole area cf'about 27 acres—The matter was referred to the Finance Committee to report on at next meeting.
