MARKET REPORT.
Mr, J. Jones, city markets, reports i sales for week ending January 15th I as follows:—This week shows gieat improvement in last week's sales. Produce and poultry of all description now coming forward in heavy supply to a good market. We had an exceptionally heavy supply of poultry and pigs. Poultry sales were strong I and for heavy birds high prices were I realised. Ducks and drakes, market lower. Pigs: We penned over 100 and prices were considerably lower. Potatoes and onions are coming forward in good supply and prices are steady at quotation. Butter and ego-s and bacon easier. Fruit is setting very well and good prices are now
Poultry.—Prime heavy hens, (is to 6s 6d, good 5s 3d to 5s lOd, ordinary ■ls to 4s (3d; duck£, voung 4s 6d to 6s 3d. old clucks 3s to 3s lOd; roosters, prime Ss, good 6s 3d to 7s, small 4s to s*: cockerels, 3s 6d to 4s 3d; turkey gobblers 12s Gd to 15s, hens 7s to lis:'chickens, 6d to 10s; ducklings. Is to Is 4d. Figs. Weaners, 15s to £1 ss; suckers. 15s; stores, £1 7s 6d to . l :l 17s Gd. Produce.—Potatoes, prime £7 to £B, good £6 to £6 10s, small £4 to £4 10s; onions, 9s to 10s Gd; butter, Is 5d to Is Sd; cheese, Is 4d; eggs, 2s 2d to 2s sd; hams, Is sd; side, Is 4d.
