SEASON OPENED TO-DAY. In the huge marquee erected on the new Town Hall site, the third annual season of Chautauqua was officially opened this afternoon in the presence of a fairly large attendance of all classes. The company, which comprises ove.r twenty;,five artists and lecturers, has been secured fropj all parts of the world for the purpose of education and the upliftment of the .ulsing generation. Representatives came from Scotland, CanadaAustralia, United States, and Assyria. The season is limited from to-day until January 20th, so intending patron? would be very well advised to attend as many sessions as possible, anp take advantage of an educative and
■ entertain',ing treat. . To-night, Miss Sujpayiih Attiyeg 1 will lecture on "My Ufo in tfie , Orient and Occident.” Miss Attiyeb, the brilliant young Christian Syrian, , brings an extraordinary lecture entertainment. From] a wealth ol experience, she tells of her homeland, its life and its cusfoms. The official position of her father gave her the right of entry into places forbidden to the sight-seer. M'fss Attiyeh jias ji marvellous command of the language, and a very keen (lupiour. Wearing the costumes of her people and carrying the spb't of her homeland in her lecture, aim brings you both entertainnient and instruction. Tlic music and fun will be given by Mr and Mrs Pained.
