Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, on the corner city markets (Auckland), reports sales for the week ending Bth January, as follows , The former part of the week, the markets had not recovered after the holidays, but a marked improvement was shown at to-day’s auct !°"' Poultry penned in short supply, out nrices were firm, and any good, heavy birds brought high prices Ducks were much lower in value. Ulu Indian Runner ducks arc being sent forward in large numbers, and values were easier. No turkeys ucie market, shade firmer j onion market, easier. . , Fruit is coming* forward m heavy supply and selling well. We landcc over 3000 cases of Island Iruit by the “Taluncj” and sales were made p.t satisfactory prices. Butter and egg market, easier. Lemons are being sent forward in increased supply, and values lower. We quote:— , .
