A settler of the district was in a clothiey's establisenient to buy a ready-to-wear suit for his son, aged 17 years. A selection having been made and the fit and style approved, the next matter was that of payment. ''How much?" said the farmer. ''£9 17 6," smiled the provider of boys' wearing apparel. "£9 171'' exclaimed the unfortunate father, with u. smile ui' a. different character. "1 only gut £8 17 for my bale of wool. How many suits would that mako?"
