"TELEGONY."

Sir,—ln reference to the discussion on telegony in your paper, I beg to forward you an extract from the history of the Berkshire pig. This seems to answer your correspondent who thinks red pigs in a itter, sired by a Berkshire boar, proves the influence of a previous Tamworth sire. "In 1840 the colour of the Berkshire was black nnd white, or reddish black and white spotted. It may be stated here that this reddish cast, not infrequently appears in the present-day Berkshire, and is merely an example of colour reversion. It may be considered ;i mark of purity rather than otherwise. The reddish cast appears quite regularly in one of the most popular strains of the breed." CHARLES A. POLLETT. Rama Rama, December 8, 1920.
