PAPAKURA.

A public meeting in connexion with the proposed Papakura Soldiers' menjorial is to be held on Monday next. —See advt.

TUAKAU PROFICIENCY EXAMINATIONS.

NO FAILURES.

For the sixth successive year there has not been a single failure in the Tuakau proficiency examinations which certainly reflects credit on the headmaster and staff. The following passed at the recent examinations:—

Eric Drumm, George B. Elliot, Gladys Glasgow, Roy Glasgow, Doris E. Graham, Frank S. Knowles, Alfred Lapwood, Andrew Mungall , Doris Reed, -,

RIANUREWA. A successful bazaar was conducted on Saturday last, November 27, ir the Manurewa Theatre, by St. Luke's Anglican Church of that district. The bazaar, both during the afternoon and evening, attracted a goodly number of people from all round the district, and the proceeds amounted to the very satisfactory total of £l5O. Thir sum is to be devoted to the erection of a Sunday school. The bazaar was opened by the May oress of Auckland, Mrs. J. H. Gunson, who was presented with a charm ing bouquet by four little fairies.

An event which added further to the interest of the proceedings, was a presentation made by the friends of the Church to Mr. and Mrs. Mellors, who are leaving the district. Ir handing Mrs. Mellors a silver cake basket and Mr. Mellors a fountair pen, Rev. Smallfield said that they hoped the gifts would be considered as tokens of esteem and appreciation.

Prizewinners of the competition and art unions held in the evenin; were as follow:

Hat Trimming.—Mr. W. Moody. Those successful in art unions were: Miss Carol Yeoland, Mrs. Wright Mr, J. Woods, Mr. Gibbs, Mr. B. Woods
