CANCER AND GOITRE.

Sir,—Just after reading the article you printed in Friday's "Times" re the "Cancer Mystery,'' I received a letter from a friend who is travelling in Australia from Melbourne. My friend went to a place called Oakleigh to look up some relations who had not been heard of for years. The relations had left years ago, and now apparently the place is a police station. As my friend says, "The sergeant in charge told ti.; our cousins had .gone to Bendigo, After some conversation he proceeded to tell us that he had found a cure for cancer. I noticed that his own face was badly cut as if with an operation. He said he had been under doctors for some time here until all his savings were gone, and then was sent home as incurable, and the idea came to him in the night and he cured himself. He gave us a book of pictures taken before and after, and testimonials, and he had two men there who were being treated, and they swore to the truth of it alh He has a brother who does the treating under his supervision. He said he used the sun's rays and medicine, but of course must not let it interfere with his duty. He has only been treating the poor people, who can only afford to pay for the medicine, but has just as many as he can handle. He started with cancer, and has also cured rheumatism and eczema of all sorts, and several had cases of goitre. It was very interesting to hear him. He does not seem to know how the thing is done, but is quite satisfied that it is the sure thing. If he only had money enough, he says, he would give up his police duties and go in for it properly, but can't afford to do so just yet. He talked of a syndicate taking the matter up, but he will only join them on the conditions that all the poor people are treated free, and of course they are out to make money, and he won't agree to that. If you hear of any cases of these ailments among your friends, tell them to write to Sergeant White, Oakleigh, Melbourne, and he will advise them what to do<" If you can find space for the above it might be the means of restoring to health some of the suffering humanity. That dread disease, cancer, is so prevalent in New Zealand that' anything that is likely t& cure, or is worth trying. Goitre, too, m increasing greatly in this country, and any means to lessen this complaint is also worth a trial. Thanking you in anticipation. B. A. CRISPE, "Te Mahoe," Mauku.
