FALLEN SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL.
PAPAKURA'S DELAY. About 19 months ago the question of the erectron of a suitable war memorial in memory of soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Great War was considered by the Papakura Town Board, and later by the public on two occasions. At these meetings a monument or some kind cf a lich gate at the entrance to the public park was suggested, but so far nothing has been done. At Monday night's meeting of the Town Board, Mr. Jones brought the matter up, and considered some definite steps should be taken at once. It appeared that when the war was on they were always ready and willing to send the boys away, but they were doing nothing to keep in remembrance the boys who never came back. On the motion of Messrs. McLennan and' Jones, it was decided to call a public meeting on December 6 at 8 p.m., when the matter could be discussed again, and something definite arrived at.
