PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDINARY MEETING.
The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council was held on Wednesday night, when there were present: The Mayor. Mr. C. K. Lawrie, Crs. G. H. Armstrong, A. P. Daysh, R. H. McCough, Hodgson, Keith, F. -J. Morrow, the clerk (Mr. J. F". Deane), the electrical engineer (Mr. W. Wyatt), and the foreman (Mr. S. Clews).
Apologies for absence were received from Crs. D. R. Hamilton, and Robert Bilkey. Permission to Extend Water Iflains. The Franklin County Council wrote granting the Borough Council permission to extend the water mains from the borough boundary to properties owned by Messrs. Salisbury, Gathercole and others, subject to the satisfaction of the county engineer.Received. Plans are to be forwarded to the County Council. Request for Trees on Domain.
Application was made by Mr. Edmund Jones for the pinus_ insignus trees on the Domain, which ne understood the council was willing to dispose of.—The foreman explained that the Domain Committee had met ancl decided to cut down a few of the trees for firewood, but they found that the cost of removing them was gi eater than the revenue they would receive from the firewood. They had an offer for the trees. .Cr. Armstrong suggested calling tenders for the removal of the trees. Cr. Daysh pointed out there was no immediate hurry for the removal of the trees. It was decided to reply that at the present time the pines were not for sale. Accounts. The dr. balance of the district fund account was shown at £1986 19s 9d. amounting to £1665 18s 8d were passed for payment. Engineer's Report.
The engineer, Mr. D. W. McArthur, reported that he had prepared the necessary plans and specifications for the formation and bridge on Franklin Road, and estimated the cost at £SBO. He suggested the necessary plans be forwarded to the District Engineer, Public Works Department, for approval. He also reported having obtained the necessary pipes for the Domain drain. These were now on the ground, the laying of 'which would be started immediately.—The report was adopted.
Works Committee.
The Works Committee reported having inspected the drain on Pukekohe East Road, near Messrs. Perkin's and Brown's property, and the work of lowering the culvert be done af a cost otf £SO, provided the property owners adjacent cleaned out the creek. : The report was adopted.
