CONVENT PUPILS' CONCEPT

A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. The Premier Hall was 'well filled on Tuesday evening, the attraction being the grand concert given by the pupils of the local Convent. Long before the advertised time of commencement the seating accommodation was fully taxed, and latecomers had to be content with standing room only. The various items were well rendered, which revealed the fact that the juveniles had received a thorough preparation at the hands of the Sisters of the Convent, and in thf§ respect the Sisters are deserving of special 'praise. Prior to the first ftim,. Rev,.FatJb.ec.- Molloy, on behalf -f)f the Sisters, returned thanks for the manned in which the public had patronised the concert, and he trusted all would thoroughly enjoy the programme. He called on the Mayor, Mr C. K. Lawrie, Lo declare the concert open. The Mayor explained' the objects of the function, which was to obtain money to augment the? tftffirve;it funds. He eulogised the vast amount of good work done by convents, and referred to the interest taken in the ihstftfftfidns by the Sisters. He stated that, about 130 children attended the local Convent, and that 40 of them were participating in tho event of the evening.
