9 PAERATA. HOLIDAY RESORT. Paerata experienced quite an influx of holiday* makers on Labour Day. The opening of the new tennis ourts of the Papakura club took dace on Saturday afternoon. The veather was fine and there was over hundred people present, including isitors from several surrounding lubs. The courts were opened by ne of the vice-presidents, W. ones, and afternoon tea was provided y the lady members of the club. Judging by the form shown by the ounger members, there is every reaon to believe that the club will ave a very strong team. ALFRISTON AND BROOKBY. SERIOUS ACCIDENT. A somewhat serious accident happened to Mr. Wilfred Blundell on Friday morning. While driving some mils to the Papakura sale one of he beasts broke into a paddock; Mr. 31undell went after it on his horse, nd although nobody actually saw the .ccident, it is thought that his horse ripped, throwing him heavily the ground. He was found lying Unconscious, and was conveyed to the Auckand Hospital, where latest reports ire that he is still unconscious. COUNTY ELECTIONS. Residents of the Papakura tiding if the Manukau County Council will ie pleased to learn that Mr. D. A. lieid has again consented to accept icmination for another term as councillor for the riding. Mr. Reid is at present in a private hospital at Auckland, but latest reports are favourtble, and it is the general hope that he will have a speedy recovery. His knowledge of the roads in the riding, tnd his past experience on road boards, make him an ideal man for the position.
