THE HOCKEY BALL.

A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. The 1920 dancing season was brought to a close, as far as Puke kohe is concerned, on Tuesday evening, when the hockey ball, held under the auspices of the Ladies' anc Gents' Hockey Clubs, eventuated ii the Premier Hall. In spite of the atmospheric conditions, which wer. adverse to such a pastime, there waa large attendance,' the dancing aren? being comfortably filled. The floo was in fairly good order. The in terior walls of the hall were taste fully decorated with greenery, con spicuous were the native palms, an: ferns. Exceptionally large fern. were placed in the corners of th< building, while one, was planted ir the centre of the stage. The oper ating bex was nicely decorated, trel lis work in the hockey club's colour.(yellow and black) being an outstand ing feature of the elaborate decoration. Suspended from wall to wal were large black' streamers, paintei on which wer&hockey sticks in golo The decorations were very artistic ir deed, and gave the hall a very coo appearance. Those responsible fo the work are deserving of a word o : praise. Dance music was. supplied by Hai riman's orchestra, consisting of Mr.' Harriman (piano), Messrs. J. Harri man (violin), Ramsay (cornet), Mui gatroyd.('cello) and Bear (double bass)," while extras were contribute by Misses Ivy Duncan and Wariiu The duties of M's.C. were efficient! discharged by Messrs. F. J. Brown, C Flavell, A. W. Oldham and N. Stuart An appetising supper, provided b. an energetic committee of ladies, wa dispensed and duly appreciated. The function was -an unquaiifie: success from every point of view, an the committee, with Mr. W. Horn as secretary, are to be (fomplimenteon their achievement.
