For some years potato leaf-curl disease has been very prevalent in pota-to-growing districts of France, and the cause lias been investigated by a couple of French agricultural scientists. The results of their researches arc now being presented in a report lo the Academie d'Agriculture. The conclusions formed by them is that ~ ( jate of soda has a certain thcra■ic action on plants suffering |m the disease, and that the chief ise of the trouble appears to be i insufficient supply of nitrogen, the .isease being apparently related to what 'a known as "nitrogen starvation."
