Elaborate ai-ram >e ments are well in hand, and inten ;o ing patrons, can rest assured lV spending an enjoyable evening. e OBITUARY, j Mr. Adam Madill, one of the ol ' est residents of Tuakau, passed awi : at Hamilton on Saturday last at tl age of 75 years. On Thursday la Mr. and Mrs. Madill, sen., left Tuak: on a visit to their daughter, Mrs. Cfi ( j lier, of Hamilton, and it was whi on this visit that Mr. Madill passe j away very suddenly. The decease I was born at County Monaghan, In \ land, in 1845. In the year 1881 1 * hit out for Canada, and was in tht f country for about four years, dui v ing which time he learned the Canad , an style of farming. In 1885 he cam to New Zealand by the steamer Aus trulia, and landed at Auckland. H [ subsequently came to Pukekohi ; where he resided for about thre , years, going to Tuakau, where he put chased a farm. The deceased was hard worker and was recognised a such by the old residents of Tua J<au. He soon moulded his farm int< shape, and some time ago was abl to retire from active work and ti ( settle down quietly at his resident-' near the Tuakau railway station where he resided up till the time o his death. He was at one time ; member of the East Pukekolic Roae Board, and while on this local bod) did good work for the welfare -of the district. He played an important part in the opening of the bridge over the Waikato River between the Franklin and Raglan Counties on the road to Pukekawa and Onewhero. He was one of the speakers at the opening function. Deceased was a particular friend of the Prime Minister (Right Hon.. W. F. Massey). Deceased was widely known and highly respected by all with whom he came in contact, and when news of fiis death b<ul lyen received quite a gloom was t.. t /over the whole district. wife survives him, and besides a widow he leaves five sons and three {laughters to mourn their loss. The sons are Messrs. D. H. Madill. Tuakau; M. and W. H. Madill. Co roni arete); Jas. Madill, Hamilton; John Mtfdill, Glenmurray. The sixth son. Adim, died about 13 years ago. \ie daughters are Mesdanies Collier, Hamilton; Cole, Waimauku; Thompson, Auckland. The funeral took place at Tuakau yesterday, and was largely attended. Floral tributes were nujattrous, which testified to the esteein In which deceased was held.
