CONCERT AT PUKEKOHE WEST.
A SUCCESSFUL EFFORT. With the object of obtaining sufficient money to effect the completion of the Union Hall, Pukekohe West, a grand concert was held in the hall on Tuesday last. There was a record attendance, the seating accommodation proving totally inadequate to cope with the demand for seats. Every available corner was utilised by numbers standing. Mr. J.- Foster, chairman of the hall committee, presided, and exp'l ined the objects of the gathering, as abovestated.
Vocal items were rendered by Mesdames Knight, Richards, Elliott, Messrs. V. S. Roberts, C. Matuschka, R. Elliott, Arthur Adams, the Methodist choir, a quartette consisting of Messrs. H. V. Cribble, K. Cannell, T. Walker, snd V. S. Roberts, and a duet by Mr and Mrs R. Elliott. A number of recitations were rendered by Mr. H. V. Cribble, Mrs. Adams and Miss Usher, pianoforte solos by Mrs. and Miss McConnell and Miss Glory Taylor, and a violin solo by Captain Jenkins (Salvation Army). The items were all well received and encores were numerous. Supper, provided by the ladies, was handed round and duly appreciated. The function was successful from all viewpoints, and the Union Hall funds should be considerably augmented.
The rendering of the National Anthem and "Auld Lang Syne" terminated proceedings.
