This Selexart art photodrama is a companion study to "The Flame of the Yukon" 'by the same brilliant M. Katterjohn, and with Clara Williams as Dorothy Harlan, "Carmen of the Klondike" opens out from a simple sentimental beginning to a grim and strenuous drama between the girl's lover, Cameron Stewart (Edward Coxen) and "Silk" McDonald, a goldfield's crook (Herschell Mayall). "THE HOODLUM."

"The Hoodlum" is the second of Mary Pickford's wonder productions from her own studio, and the first she has made since "Daddy Long Legs," and the story is an adaptation of the well-known "Burke's Amy" by Julie Lippmann, which achieved such universal'popularity in America and elsewhere. Mary portrays the role of a dissatisfied heiress who elects to live in the slums, where she gradually emulates her playmate and becomes a regular street urchin with the accomplishments of the denizens of the sordid environments. She finds real happiness among her humble companions that her wealthy surroundings ever gave her. The outstanding feature of the 'production fe the fact that it reveals hitherto uriplumbed depths of versatility on the part of the- little star, and the comedy-romance furnishes her with opportunities she has never before ha<j. "The Hoodlum" met with phenomena! success in America and Australia, and the critics are agreed that unquestionably it is the greatest character role in the screen career of "the world's sweetheart."
