The subject of the proposed war memorial was introduced at last night's meeting of the Pukekohe Chambojfcol' Commerce bv the president, l«bv. F. Webster.' The president said that matter had been so setlled by th£ vote of the ratepayers. c .
Mr. C. Cooper moved that the president. Mr. Perkins and other members attend the meeting to-morrow to represent the chamber and ascertain what it was intended to do. The council was bound-neither to carry out the swimming fciths' scheme or forfeit that part of the loan money. The following resolution was carried unanimously: --"That this chamber respectfully requests Mr. Roulston to forego the conditions of the gift of property to the town of Pukekohe, in respect to the war memorial stipulation, especially in view •of the fact that the ratepayers of Pukekohe decided by an overwhelming majority of votes to erect swimming baths as a war memorial.'"
