TOTAL OF £IO,OOO SANCTIONED

A poll of ratepayers in the Manurewa town district was held on Saturday, on a proposal to borrow £BOOO for road works and £2OOO for the purpose of recreation reserves. The polling resulted in the proposal being carried, the voting at Manurewa being:— For the roading schee, 100, and 18 against. For the reserves scheme, 80 for, 36 against. Returns for the polling place in the city have yet to be received, but cannot affect the result. The roads proposed include construction and reconstruction, the principal amounts being allocated as follows: £ Great South Road .. 2000 Russell Road .. .. 1500 Massey Road .. .. 1000 Weymouth Road .. .. 1000 The recreation proposal includes:— The raising of £650 for the purchasing of five acres in the Puriri Park Estate for a public park, and £1365 for the purchase of about eight acres of the Jellicoe Estate for a recreation ground.
