PUKEKOHE SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING,* The Pukekohe School Committee met on Tuesday night, when there were present: Messrs F. Perkins (chairman), A. F. Brown, F. J. Morrow, W. Wyatt, J. W. Johns, J. G. Ward and John Patterson (secretary) Headmaster for High School.
The secretary reported that owing to the probable shortage of textbooks next year, he had written to the Board of Education asking that the appointment of a headmaster for the technical high school should be made immediately in order that the text-books could be ordered. The secretary's action was endorsed, and as a reply had not been received from the board, he was instructed to again write poinding out the urgency of the matter.
Farm School. The secretary's action was also confirmed with regard to his communication to the Minister for Education (Hon. E. J. Parr) with reference to the establishment of a model farm school at Pukekohe, particulars of which have appeared in the "Times." An Additional Teacher. The Education Board advised that in view of the increased attendance at the school, they had advertised for an additional teacher. Received. Probationer Appointed, The Education Board intimated that Miss J. C. Stricken had been appointed to the .school as a probationer. - Received. -• Land Transfer.
In view of the fact that the chairman had promised to collect £IOO towards the cost of an additional acre of land to complete the purchase of live acres of land lately acquired for the technical school, the board intimated that it had instructed its solicitors to prepare the transfer of the acre from the trustees of the late Mr. W. J. MeGough.—Received.
