LYCEUM PICTURES.
SATURDAY.
Mabel Nonnand, the screen's great-1 est comedienne, in "When Doctors Disagree,' a Goldwyn comedy-drama, j heads the bill for to-morrow (Satur- j day) nights screening. This is one of Mabel's biggest hits since joining liie Goldwyn iilm iirm. "You've never seen Mabel really funny till you've seen her in this. A hearty laugh is a line thing, and "When Doctors Disagree," it is a quite likely cure for the ill that is the bone of contention. Anyone can be sure of a good, hearty laugh at MabelNormand when her doctors disagree, and her antics alone are enough to make the digestion of a horse disagree with its risible faculties. Besides the star there is a fine interest study of animals, a gazette and a Pathe comedy, a big programme.
WEDNESDAY NEXT.
By special arrangement the Lyceum management have secured the screening rights of Pukekohe for next Wednesday, tlie film of the light between •Joe Beckett (champion of Britain) and Georges Carpentier (champion of Europe). Although tins fight is of short duration it is one of the most sensational in history. This is just an addition to the usual programme, a.id no extra charge is being made. The Prince of Wales was a spectator at the light, and is to be seen shaking hands with the boxers.
POPULAR PICTURES.
"M'LISS." TUESDAY, AUGUST 3,
"M'Liss," the pictured adaptation of a famous story by Bert Harte, is an Artcraft Paramount special atti action of magnificent scenery, and delightful human interest. Alary Pickford has in this Western motion drama a role that suits her versatile genius to perfection. As a little mountain toinboy she flits through the scenes with appealing naturalness, with all the perversity, si dden temper, and delicious melting moods of such a girl. There are stirring events in the story, and the finale is sudden and unexpected. But a vein of tender romance runs through Iht girl's life, and charms the beholder." So reads the advance ascription of "M'Liss," and it's here for patrons' benefit. Popular Pictures has made special arrangements to screen it in the Oddfellows' Hall on Tuesday, August 'l, and hopes to follow it up with specials equally as good at the very reasonable price for such pictures of Is 7d for adults, and 9d for children.
