The Fanners' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— On Wednesday, the 7th inst., we held a clearing sale of pedigree and grade Jersey cattle on behalf of Mr. T. C. Maltby, of Otumoetai, Tauranga, when the bidding was keen and the following satisfactory prices were re alised:— Registered Cattle.—Bull (Lassie's Renown), 71gns; purchased by Dr. Bertram. Cow (Perfect Jem), (Signs; purchased by G. B. Sutton. Heifer (Star of Eve), 57gns; purchased by J. S. Rae. Cow (Fox's Venus), 55gns; purclfased by G. B. Sutton; Cow (Silver Pride), 47gns; purchased by J. S. Rae. Heifer (Venus' Delight), 30 Vi Heifer (Perfect Gem's Darling), 2-l gns; purchased by M. A. Rogers, gns; purchased by M. Crimmins. Unregistered Cows.—Maud gns), Mirth (3Ggns), Joan- (3. r )gns), Dinah (30s>ns), and Sylvia (29gns) were purchased by J. S. Rae. Pandora (34gns) was purchased by J. W. Rogers. Grade heifers made from 24 1 -igns to 22Vi>gns. Grade heifer calves made from 8 1 j gns to llVigns, HAMILTON DAIRY SALE. At Hamilton on« Wednesday, 14th inst., we had a fair yarding of dairy cattle, and repoit very much improved conditions. Bidding was l-:ee« throughout, ar.<l practicaliv everything was cleared. Best Dairy Cows. Jei'srv, to <:22; Shorthorn, to U7; inferior'and back ward sorts,.£6 to £11: Jersey heifers made to 1:35, Shorthorns to i :lfi ss. backward sorts, t8 K»s lo Ids. At Hamilton yards on Thursday, 15th inst., our entry was smaller than usual, due no doubt to the .-severity of the weather. Bidding however was brisk, and everything with small exception changed hands. No beef was yarded. Store cows and steers were also in short supply, and sold at last week's rates. A good draft of empty heifers made up to £7, although a portion of the line failed to reach the owner's reserve. Yearling steers were in | strong demand at advanced values, j The entry of fat sheep was small and ! was well competed for.
